Spring ’17 Simulcast Roundup

Another season of anime is upon us. Here’s a quick look at where things stand so far when it comes to where you can legally watch the new slate of shows. This post will be updated as news comes in. Check out my streaming guide for links to the shows and other info.

Unless some late-casts pop up, I think that everything is where it’s gonna be.

Amazon introduced Anime Strike last season and it looks like they’ve gotten pretty aggressive this season, with some help from Sentai Filmworks. The shows in red are also licensed for home video by Sentai. Not a great situation, since Amazon requires you have both an Amazon Prime sub and an Anime Strike sub. Unfortunately, I think we’ll be seeing more of these double paywall exclusives this season and in the future. I think the only way this situation will turn around is if Amazon sees no profit out of it.

Sentai Filmworks / Anime Network Online

  • Frame Arms Girl
  • Rin-ne Season 3

Only time will tell, if this is all for them (besides the Amazon titles above) this season. Rin-ne Season 1-2 also simulcasted on Crunchyroll, but that was before the Crunchyroll / Funimation partnership. I guess we’ll have to see if CR can get it for themselves as well, or if it will stay an ANO exclusive.

  • Blame! The Movie
  • ID-0 (likely will be held till it finishes airing)
