Here’s quick roundup of where the shows for Winter ’16-’17 have landed. While this list is US-centric, I’m quite pleased to see that many of the shows Crunchyroll picked up are listed as “worldwide excluding Asia”. The links to the show’s pages on the various streaming sites are all in my streaming guide, along with other information.
Of course, it’s no surprise that the Crunchyroll / Funimation team nabbed a decent chunk of the season. Also, great news for English dub fans is that everything is getting a SimulDub. That’s a lot of shows for one season and I really hope they aren’t stretching their resources out too thin.
Crunchyroll / Funimation
- ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.
- Akiba’s Trip The Animation
- Chain Chronicle – The Light of Haecceitas –
- Hand Shakers
- Interviews With Monster Girls
- Koro Sensei Quest!
- Masamune-kun’s Revenge
- Miss Kobayashi’s Maid Dragon
- Nanbaka Season 2
- Saga of Tanya the Evil
Of course, Crunchyroll grabbed a good chunk of the season on their own as well.
- Ai Mai Mii: Surgical Friends (short)
- Chiruran 1/2 (short)
- Forest Fairy Five (short)
- Gabriel Dropout
- Gintama. (2017)

- Nyanko Days (short)
- One Room (short)
- Piacevole (short)
- School Girl Strikers
- Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju Season 2
- Super Lovers Season 2
- Yamishibai Season 4 (short)
- Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation
The rest of this season’s shows are spread out between the rest of the streaming players.
- Scum’s Wish
I have to say, this is probably the tragedy of the season. I’m fine with them picking up anime, but to now require two subscriptions in order to watch their exclusives is just ridiculous (Amazon Prime + Anime Strike). This new double paywall is a big step backward from making anime legally available to everyone, especially when you consider that a good number of the shows Crunchyroll got this season are “worldwide excluding Asia” and they have an option to watch these shows for free (w/ads) a week later. On top of that, a lot of countries don’t even have access to Amazon Prime. No Amazon, no thank-you.
Anime Network / Sentai Filmworks
- BanG Dream!
- Urara Meirocho
Not terribly surprising that they don’t have much this season, given how much Crunchyroll and Funimation picked up. Hopefully they’ll have more shows Spring season.
Aniplex of America
- Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga
- Fate/Grand Order ~First Order~ (TV Special)
- Granblue Fantasy the Animation (TV Special)
- Rewrite Season 2
In the case of AoA, they love to share their titles, so you can watch these shows in a number of places (Crunchyroll, Hulu, Daisuki and so on).
Daisuki / Funimation
- Tales of Zestiria the X 2nd Season
- Little Witch Academia (TV Series)
As usual, we most likely won’t be seeing their shows until after the season ends and with an English dub. On a separate note, it looks like the 4 episode TV special of Seven Deadly Sins (from Summer ’16) will be going up on February 17th.
Barring some late additions, that should cover everything. Again, if you need links to the shows, they’re all in my streaming guide. Thanks for reading!
